Product Description The Sun Jar combines a traditional Mason jar with high-tech energy-efficient lighting. Hidden inside the jar are an efficient solar cell, a rechargeable battery and a low energy LED lamp. Simply set the jar in sunlight to charge and then as darkness falls the light switches on automatically. The frosted jar produces a soft diffused glow so it's perfect as a garden light or night light. There is a manual override switch inside the lid to turn off the light at night and conserve battery life.

Beautiful Light December 4, 2008 Ray Gen (El Segundo, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I live in Southern California and I placed the Sun Jar on my porch which receives DIRECT sunlight most of the day. The light is beautiful and lasts well into the A.M. In the winter, the light does end much earlier.
Not reliable... or is it? November 2, 2008 N. Collet (Miami Beach, FL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this jar and at first loved it. After using it half a dozen times, it stopped working properly. I would charged it the whole day on the window sill, then at night it would work for 30-60 minutes and then become extremely dim. I returned it to ThinkGeek. Then I bought another sun jar from Swaba Retail. It's a simpler model but much cheaper. It has a battery that cannot be replaced, however, it's supposed to last for years. Well, after I've used it half a dozen times, the light sensor stopped working and the light would be on even in a bright room. Next thing you know, the light doesn't work anymore. So I have to return this second sun jar too. ------------------- Follow-up to my post. I contacted Swaba Retail, and they were very helpful. I was told that sometimes the sun jars sit in the box for some time, then when they are delivered to a customer it may take a few days for their battery to fully charge. I left my "dead" Swaba sun jar on the window sill for 2 days and it came back to life. Maybe the same would be applicable to my Suck UK sun jar. Anyway, it seems those sun jars may need a few days to fully charge initially.
Disappointing light October 4, 2008 Pinktonette 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The idea is charming but the result is so disappointing. Don't believe the lovely image of the jar - in reality the light is not that soft yellow you see in the images but an ugly harsh orange. It gives the room a pleasant atmosphere of a space-horror movie.
Total piece of junk August 7, 2008 S. Schofield (Newport Beach, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the worst product I have bought. Seriously, I was mad that I wasted the $50 (with shipping). It worked for two days before the wiring detached, never to be repaired. I threw it away within a week. I would not recommend this product to anyone!
Pathetic quality - dont buy June 9, 2008 John D (Lake Forest, IL USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In pushing the "on" button, the whole panel assembly broke. Underneath the panel all the glue holding the components had cracked and components were hanging by wires. No warranty. I should have known since the UK company who makes this product is named SUCK UK Ltd.
